Lunchtimes at West Rise

Welcome to lunchtimes at West Rise Community Infant School where EVERY child from the age of 4-7 years is entitled to a free school lunch every day. All school meals are prepared daily on our premises using fresh ingredients, by experienced catering staff. The school menu is supplied by Chartwells and offers a range of healthy main meals as well as a daily vegetarian option or the option to have a jacket potato.  

We are also able to cater for children with special dietary requirements, please ask at the school office for more information.  

As some children are allergic to nuts, we are a 'nut free' school. Under no circumstances must any nuts or products containing nuts be brought into school.

The choice of school meal is selected by each child on a daily basis in the classroom at morning registration.  It is not a requirement to have a school meal every day, some children like to bring in a pack lunch and this is absolutely fine, we have lots of healthy lunch box ideas that you can view on this page.

Take a look at the latest school menu (this changes every 4 months), and you can also view some pictures showing a variety of meals on offer. You will also find some pictures showing how we set-up the hall for lunchtimes together with a fresh water and fresh milk self-service area and a salad bar from which the children can help themselves to accompany their meal.  The children are encouraged to be as independent as possible throughout their lunchtime, although staff are on hand to help with cutting-up food if the children are finding it difficult.  We always have a special table set-up for whenever a child has a birthday.
