Please see below for information on how we teach English at West Rise Infant school.

At West Rise we have recently moved to using Little Wandle as our phonic scheme, as approved by the Department for Education. Little Wandle Letters and Sounds Revised, draws on the latest research into how children learn best; how to ensure learning stays in children's long-term memory and how best to enable children to apply their learning to become highly competent readers.

Our core reading scheme is Collins Big Cat which links to the Little Wandle programme.

Our non-phonic reader scheme is the Oxford Reading Tree.
